The script of "Caney Creek: The Legend of Alice Lloyd" is written by songwriter Michael Johnathon.

Originally from the Hudson Valley in upstate New York, he settled in the Appalachian mountain in 1984, in a small hamlet called Mousie, Kentucky. Mousie is in Knott County and just across Blue Moon Mountain from Caney Creek, the location of Alice Lloyd's school and the story of her life.

After hearing the story of Alice from local folks, Michael was given a copy of Dr. Jerry Davis book, "Miracle on Caney Creek." Upon finishing the book about Alice and her friend June Buchanon, he visited the campus and Dr. Davis, who also arranged a meeting with Miss June, shortly before she passed at almost 100 years old.

Sitting on a swinging bridge between two hollers, Michael wrote the song, "Miracle on Caney Creek" and, with the help of Alice Lloyd College and PEPSI USA, filmed a 35mm music video that went to #12 on the CMT Music channel. The video also aired on VH-1 and TNN. The national music journal Billboard also ran a feature on Michael and his music.

The script has taken nearly ten years to complete.

Some of Michael's other projects include nine released albums, two published books, the national radio and TV broadcast of the WoodSongs Old-Time Radio Hour and the 2009 film release of Walden: The Ballad of Thoreau, which aired on PBS-HD and public television stations coast to coast plus 521 radio stations including XM Satellite Radio. Michael authored the Walden play script that has been registered for performance by over 7400 colleges, schools and community theaters in 39 countries. The script is available in English, French and Spanish.
